Provider
Any trained professional who gives care to you and your family. Physicians and nurse practitioners are your health care providers at the Riggs Community Health Center.

Physician
A physician possesses a medical degree that was earned after many years of study and work in a health care setting such as a hospital. Physicians can diagnose illnesses, prescribe medicines, and admit a patient to a hospital.

Nurse Practitioner
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with additional training and education in a specific area of health care. Nurse practitioners perform health care services such as physical exams and shots, writing prescriptions for medicines, and counseling patients on health care issues.

Dentist
A dentist possesses a degree that is earned after several years of schooling and work in dental facilities. A dentist cleans, extracts, and/or repairs natural teeth.

Dental hygienist
A dental hygienist is trained and licensed to provide preventive dental services such as cleaning teeth and taking x-rays in conjunction with a dentist.
