Every day, we get many calls for appointments – from both old and new patients. Most of the time, our appointment spaces are already full. Each day, one-third of the patients who have appointments do not keep them and do not call to cancel their appointment. We could see other patients if this did not happen.
We must cut down the number of patients who do not keep their appointments so we have appointments available to treat others who are sick.
You should plan to be here 30 minutes before your appointment time.
The following rules will apply:
-

You will be a NO SHOW if:
- You didn’t show up at all
- You didn’t cancel by 5 PM the business day before your appointment
- You did not clock in at the Front Desk before your appointment time
- You will not be given a future, regular appointment if:
- You do not keep your first, regular appointment with us
- An established patient no shows three times within 6 months and does not call to cancel. After your third “no show” visit you will be asked to schedule a visit with the Director of Clinical Services to discuss yourappointment situation. This will be at no charge to you. If you “No Show”that appointment, you may not be able to continue to be a Riggs CHC patient.
- We are not refusing to take care of you.
- However, you will not be given an appointment. You can be seen by your provider on a “work-in” basis only. This means you can come to the Center and see if you can be seen by your provider that day.You will have to complete a form telling why you need to be seen. You may wait a longtime to be seen, if you can be seen at all. You cannot schedule your appointment andbe seen through Triage. If you are very ill, you should go to the Emergency Room.
- To help make things easier, we have a telephone number for you to call to leave a message which will cancel your appointment.
- The number is 742-1567, please listen to the options. Choose the option "cancel appointment." If attendant does not pick up, please leave a message. This system will note the date and time of your telephone call.
- We know there are visits when you are here on time for your appointment, but have not been checked in yet.
- We have a new time clock that gives the time you arrived and gives you a number for “next in line” for the front desk to check in. As long as you have clocked in on time, you will not be considered late, even if you have not been checked in by the Front Desk.
WE HOPE THESE CHANGES HELP US SERVE YOU BETTER.
