A collaboration agreement with the Lafayette School Corporation (LSC) allows Riggs CHC to offer School Based Health Care Program (SBHCP) at Murdock Elementary School.  90% of Murdock's enrollment participates in the free or reduced lunch program. This initiative employs a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the school two ½ days each week to provide wellness education and illness prevention in addition to diagnosis and treatment of acute illness.  The program helps to reduce the time out of the classroom and eliminating the parents' need to leave work and in many cases secure transportation to take their child to the doctor.  In addition to providing basic primary health care services, the SBHCP facilitates more up-to-date immunizations and well-child checks. 

 Riggs CHC expects a 30% decrease in absenteeism for acute illness and preventative services with the addition of this program.
