Riggs Community Health Center is pleased to announce that is is now takin applications for the Rural Health Nurse Practitioner Residency Program. The class of 2021-2022 will begin July 1, 2021. Application deadline is April 1, 2021. Notifications will be made by May 1, 2021.
Riggs Community Health Center is dedicated to the mission of improving access to quality, cost effective, comprehensive health care with respect and compassion to under-served community members. This residency program is designed for new nurse practitioners with a commitment to developing careers in the challenging setting of rural clinics, caring for the underserved.
Riggs Rural Health Nurse Practitioner Residency Program's goal is to increase access to culturally competent, quality healthcare for underserved and vulnerable populations in rural settings. This will be accomplished by:
- Expand access to high-quality primary care for underserved and rural populations, and contribute to primary clinical workforce by training new nurse practitioners in a community-based, rural health residency program.
- Support the attainment of competence, confidence, and mastery in all domains of primary care that is needed to serve assuredly as a community health primary care provider. This residency will provide a highly structured transitional experience that includes the necessary depth, breadth, volume and intensity of clinical practice.
- Train new nurse practitioners to a model of primary care consisted with the Patient Centered Medical Home principles including care that is comprehensive, team-based, patient-centered, coordinated, accessible, high quality and safe.
- Increase the overall confidence and professional job satisfaction of new nurse practitioners who are committed to working in underserved, rural community settings.
